Here are the guidelines for submitting photos for display on the KLA web site. We prefer to receive pictures that meet the following criteria:
- Pictures that are of excellent quality:
- In focus
- Good composition
- Correct exposure (contrast and brightness)
- Good color saturation and balance, so they will display well on the web
- High resolution (We prefer at least 1024x768 resolution, but please keep the file size under 3 MB)
- Pictures that are interesting. People or animals often make interesting subjects.
- We are also interested in historical pictures for our History section and pictures of famous Klinger Lake residents for our People section. We can scan conventional photos for use on the web.
- We prefer pictures that are in the horizontal (landscape) format, because vertical pictures do not fit the design of the home page very well. We have used them occasionally when they were of exceptional quality or interest.
- A (short) description of each picture is helpful.
- Submitting a lot of pictures does not necessarily mean that yours will be chosen. We prefer to receive just your best ones. Even then, we often have to make difficult decisions, so please do not be upset if yours is not chosen right away! It might be used at a later time.
- If there are minor issues with a picture (skew, barrel distortion, etc.) we will usually Photoshop it before posting. Don't be afraid to submit a picture that is otherwise very good if it has a minor, correctable flaw like this.
- We do not have a release form, but the assumption is that you are willing to have anything you send us posted on the Web. This includes pictures of children. Please review our Terms of Use before submitting your photos.
- Pictures are subject to copyright by the owner and the Klinger Lake Association, but as you probably know, it is basically very difficult to control what people will do with something once it is posted on the web. So please only send pictures that you are comfortable with sharing!
- All submissions become the property of the Klinger Lake Association and will not be returned, although we will remove a photo from the web site upon request.
